A meal to benefit the Fonds de dépannage CLSC

A meal that makes all the difference.

Fonds de dépannage CLSC of the Vitae Foundation

Each year, in mid-February, the Vitae Foundation holds its annual breakfast event at Chez Charlie restaurant to benefit the Fonds de dépannage CLSC.

All employees and stakeholders of the CSSS-IUGS, community members and the general population are invited to mix business with pleasure by enjoying a breakfast that will help the users of the CLSC.

Since 2005, this activity, which generates close to $8,000 annually, has provided the opportunity to distribute more the $55,000; following the recommendations of CLSC stakeholders.

In 2016, spaghetti lunches are being held for the CLSC emergency fund and its beneficiaries.

This initiative has been made possible thanks to the generous collaboration of Chez Charlie restaurant.

About the Fonds de dépannage CLSC of the Vitae Foundation

The Fonds de dépannage CLSC of the Vitae Foundation, supports users with precarious health and financial situations or who have experienced an unforeseen situation.

Following an evaluation, in addition to a recommendation from CSLC workers, these funds allow for a prompt response to needs that cannot be met by other organizations, needs that have a considerable impact on the psychological and physical well-being of the users that benefit from it.

The faces of the Fonds de dépannage…

Some rest for an exhausted young mother …

This young mother saw her world get turned upside down after her spouse had a serious accident. Having to care for her spouse and children, she was rapidly becoming exhausted and lacking resources. With the money provided from the Fonds, she was able to hire a babysitter; allowing her to get some rest and avoid a burnout.

Improving the end of life…

Aging may be difficult when one has weak health and scarce financial resources. An elderly lady, living alone, waiting to be admitted to a CHSLD, did not have the means to pay for incontinence products that she needed. With the help from the Fonds, she was able to buy the products that were essential to helping her maintain her health and above all, to keep her dignity.

Surviving a fire when you already have limited means…

To see your life go up in smoke not only affects your spirits but also your health. In collaboration with the Red Cross whose main purpose is to provide support in the event of public welfare emergencies, the Fonds de dépannage allowed a very underprivileged man to help buy the bare necessities in terms of goods and food to help him survive and regain the courage to live life.
